Nigeria's Super Eagles will faeture in their fifth FIFA World Cup with their Iranian counterparts in group F opening round tonight, 8pm GMT, both teams would ideally be seeking to avoid a defeat in order to have a realistic hopes if advancing to the knockout stages.
This will however be the first ever meeting between both nations, and only the 2nd time the Nigerians will be squaring up against Asian opposition at a FIFA World Cup.
Four years ago in South Africa, the super Eagles held Korea Republic to a 2-2 draw which was not good enough for the Super Eagles to proceed to the Round of 16
