Covenant University invites you to her 9th Convocation Ceremony on Friday,27th June 2014


The Chancellor,Dr David Oyedepo,on behalf of the Board of Regents,Management,Senate,Faculty,Staff and Students cordially invites members of the general public to the Covenant University's 9th Convocation Ceremony for the award of Fisrt and Higher Degrees and presentation of Prizes.
Keynote Address will be delivered by Dr. Sarah Alade (OON),Former Acting Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria . The focus of the address will be on"Rethinking the Concept of National Transformation: The Role of Higher Education Institutions"

Their is need to brainstorm on the challenges, conflicts and contradiction our Country’s leadership

There is  need to brainstorm on the challenges, conflicts and contradiction in the country’s leadership, this was disclosed at the African Leadership Development Centre (ALDC) first ever Specialized Workshop Series. Themed: “CONFLICT MANAGEMENT AND RESOLUTION” The 4-Day workshop held on the 25-28 May 2014 at ALDC, Covenant University Canaan Land, Ota, Nigeria.
The workshop commenced with an opening ceremony in which the Keynote Address was delivered by the Chancellor, Covenant University, Dr. David O. Oyedepo. The focus of Keynote Address was on Leadership Imperatives: Conflict Resolution and Conflict Management Demands for Inspiring Transformation and Driving Change.
In her welcome address, the Director of the Centre, Professor Aize Obayan pointed out the need to brainstorm on the challenges, conflicts and contradiction in the country’s leadership. She disclosed that the workshop is timely especially with the issue of the over 200 missing secondary school students.
In attendance at the event were the, The Olota of Ota, His Royal Majesty, Oba Alani Oyede, Ado/Odo Ota Local Government Chairman; Honourable Rotimi Rahmon, representative of the NUC; Dr.Sanni Saliu, Dr Kalu Idika Kalu, Professor Peter Okebukola, Prof. Kunle Amuwo, Dr.Gloria Elemo, Dr Shola Afolabi, members of Covenant University Board of Regents, Pro-Chancellor, Covenant University Pastor Abraham Ojeme, Vice Chancellor Covenant University Prof. C K Ayo, Mr. Tim Akano among others.
The participants at the workshop participated in the capacity building sessions which were a creative platform for sustainable peace, harmonious socio-political and economic development and process. They were privileged to hear from the different distinguished lead speakers, the  likes of His Excellency, Mr. Patrick Fay; Ambassador of Ireland to Nigeria, Chief Dr. Lugard Aimiuwu, OON;  Former President & Chairman of Council, Nigeria Institute of Management and Former President & Chairman of Council, National Institute of Marketing of Nigeria, Prof. Cecil Blake; University of Pittsburgh, USA and Former Minister of Information, Republic of Sierra Leone, Dr. Andrew Zamani, President Nigeria Psychological Association who painstakingly put them through the causes, management and resolution to conflict and also offer an opportunity to collectively envision pathways for building the Africa of our dreams
The workshop came to an end on the 28th of May 2014 with a wrap up ceremony and a lunch/network time at the Covenant University Cafeteria.

The African Leadership Development Centre, Covenant University is hosting a Leadership Competence Development Workshop on Conflict Management and Conflict Resolution where the Keynote Address will be given by the Chancellor, Covenant University and President, Living Faith Church World Wide, Dr. David Oyedepo. The focus of the Keynote Address is on Leadership Imperatives: Conflict Resolution and Conflict Management Demands for Inspiring Transformation and Driving Change.
The workshop’s emphasis on Conflict Management and Resolution is timely, particularly in securing the future of our Nation and People. Through proactive capacity building programmes, the workshop will enable us have a firm grip on management and resolution of conflicts, as we actualize the realization of our collective quest for sustainable peace in our Land.

Covenant University ,Ota Nigeria will host 2007 and 2011 world known Nobel Prize winners in Economics Science. Professor Thomas Sargent,New York University,Nobel Laureate in Economics (2011) and Professor Eric S. Maskin,Harvard University,Nobel Laureate in Economics (2007)  on 5th – 6th of May  2014 at her first ever  International African Development Issues  (CU-ICADI).
Theme: “Rising Economic Opportunities for Investors in Africa and the Prospect of an African Economic Miracle”
Venue: African Leadership Development Centre (ALDC). Covenant University,  Ota, Ogun State.

The conference would focus on vectors conducive to economic growth, and alleviation of poverty. It has been observed over the last decade that poor economic indicators of famine, extreme poverty, wars, and low growth rates amongst others that characterized the post-independence era of many nations in Africa are being reversed. The continent is witnessing the fastest growth rate in the world reaching 7 percent per annum in some cases as against 1 percent in the previous decade. This growth trend has raised high hopes as to the possibility of Africa experiencing a sustainable growth impetus
 The specific sub-themes to be addressed at the conference include:
(a) Key Drivers of Growth for Africa’s Economic Transformation;
(b) Inclusive Growth for a Resilient Middle Class in Africa;
(c) Economic and Institutional Reforms for Sustainable Growth in Africa; and
(d) Governance and Economic Transformation in Africa.

Conference participation fee is N250,000 for participants resident in Nigeria, and US$1,500 for international participants.  This fee covers conference kits, tea breaks and group lunch for the conference duration as well as dinner at the end of the conference.  The fee excludes accommodation charges.  The Covenant University Guest House and other decent hotels around the Conference venue are being booked for this event.  Interested participants should indicate intentions as early as possible.
For ease of access to Covenant University,transportation services from the Airport to and from the Conference venue by bus and helicopter services are being arranged at moderate charges for interested participants.
